Hochschule Bremen - University of Applied Sciences

The International Component

The AWS course programme was founded through suggestion from the National Ministry of Education and Science as one of the first international study programmes of Bremen University of Applied Sciences. Up until this day, the AWS degree programme represents a seldom and notable combination for Germany in the subjects of business management and national economics with an non-European language (Arabic, Chinese or Japanese) and integrated year abroad and has thereby become a model course for a large number of international studies.

Sound skills in foreign languages belong to one of the most important additional qualifications that internationally-based companies expect from college graduates today. The intensive language classes led by mother tongue speakers in small groups, serve to convey these skills and at the same time prepares students for their year abroad.

A part of the practical period is completed by the students at one of the numerous partner colleges in the AWS target regions (the Arabic world, China, Japan) and deepens their language and regional study skills. In the second part of the year abroad, students devote themselves to business internships in companies and institutes on location.
