Abstract:

The project, “Electric Cars Charging Station with Integrated Photovoltaic Plant,” is planned as an integral part of the modernization of the Laboratory for Energetics and could be carried out before the complex modernization of the laboratory hall.
The main goals of the project can be summarized as follow:
• Bringing attention to e-mobility
• Integration of the practically orientated research in the student research projects
• Gaining income for the laboratory and for the university from advertisements
• Usage of an electrical car and pick-up truck for laboratory and university purposes
• Possible further project development for usage of the station as a university charging station and public station.

Growth of the project could result from cooperation with the local energy company swb, which has formally pledged material support. This way, the charging station could be connected with the photovoltaic plant placed on the roof of the laboratory building. Swb would install the photovoltaic equipment and the City University of Applied Sciences in Bremen would lease and use the installation for research purposes. These extensions would enable more complex tasks and research topics like:
• smart grid
• bi-directional processes
• balancing energy
