Anmerkung
Abstract:

The Wankel rotary engine’s principle of operation was not able to establish itself in the world of combustion engine, despite some obvious advantages like steady running, direct power gear ratio, good power to weight ration and some others. The keynote of this contribution is the first theoretical investigation of possible Wankel rotary engine application as an expansion machine for heat to power generation from different low and middle enthalpy sources. The designated power should be within the range 10 kW to 30 kW which is very important for many potential practical requirements.
This is a feasibility study concerning geometrical, thermodynamic and some constructive aspects. The engine’s principle of operation was adopted and modified in order to enable the expansion of working fluid instead of combustion engine cycle. The expander was devised as a double flow system with two inlet and two outlet openings which are controlled automatically. This solution facilities three complete expansion working cycles pro piston turn and thereby quiet running and smooth power transmission.
