Steam Power Plant with Organic Rankine Fluid (Organic Rankine Cycle), Design, Development and Installation of a Test- and Demonstration Plant
Within the framework of a co-operation project between the University of Applied Sciences Bremen and “machtwissen.de” an ORC-installation was conceived as a test- and demonstration plant, which at the moment is being set up in the Laboratory for Energetics at the above university. Apart from the thermodynamic and technical system- and optimization analysis, one of the main goals pursued by the developed design is supposed to be the investigation of application possibilities of screw-type engines as expanders in an ORC process.

In principle the installation consists of the following components:
- heat source and thermal-oil cycle as heat carrier medium
- expander with electrical brake
- condenser and heat cooling system (making use of the existing infrastructure with cooling tower at the Laboratory for Energetics)
- measurement- and control technology, data acquisition
- auxiliary implements.
